History

Belonging to the nightshade family, and native to South America, this genus of 11 species in the Solanaceae family, is now widely naturalized.

Outstanding Characteristics

Flowers are erect and funnel-shaped. Fruit is a bumpy, spiny seed pod. Leaves are simple, smooth-edged, or with wavy margins, and are spirally arranged.
